    Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 lets you connect to a Microsoft Windows-based computer and work with programs and files on that computer from your Macintosh computer.
    Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta 2) includes the following new features:
     
      • Universal Binary - Runs natively on both Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macs.

    Microsoft Releases SyncToy v2.0 Beta

     
    SyncToy 2.0 Beta for Windows is now available as a free download from the Microsoft Download Center. The easy to use, customizable application helps you copy, move, rename, and delete files between folders and computers.     The following features were added to this release of SyncToy:
     
      • Dynamic Drive Letter Assignment: Drive letter reassignment will now be detected and updated in the folder pair definition.
      • True Folder Sync: Folder creates, renames and deletes are now synchronized for all SyncToy actions.
      • Exclusion Filtering Based on Name: File exclusion based on name with exact or fuzzy matching.
      • Filtering Based on File Attributes: The ability to exclude files based on one or more file attributes (Read-Only, System, Hidden).
      • Unattended Folder Pair Execution: Addressed issues related to running scheduled folder pairs while logged off.
      • Folder Pairs With Shared Endpoints: Ability for folder pairs associated with the same or different instances of SyncToy to share end-points.
      • Command line enhancements: Added the ability to manage folder pairs via the command line interface.
      • The SyncToy engine has been rearchitected to provide scalability and the ability to add significant enhancements in future releases.
      • Sync engine is also more robust insomuch that many single, file level errors are skipped without affecting the entire sync operation.
      • Sync Encrypted Files: Sync of Encrypted files works when local folder and files are encrypted, which addresses the common scenario involving sync between local, encrypted laptop PC folder and remote, unencrypted desktop PC folder.

      • Sub-folder Exclusion Enhancements: Descendents creates under excluded sub-folders are automatically excluded.

    October 26 Release Date for Apple's Mac OS X Leopard Operating System that Supports Microsoft Windows

     
    After a few delays, Apple has announced an October 26th release date of their Mac OS X Leopard operating system. And as expected it supports the 32 bit versions of Microsoft Windows XP & Windows Vista.
     
      • Run Windows at native speed - Boot Camp supports the most popular 32-bit releases of Windows XP and Windows Vista. When you use either operating system on your Mac, your Windows applications will run at native speed. Windows applications have full access to multiple processors and multiple cores, accelerated 3D graphics, and high-speed connections like USB, FireWire, Wi-Fi, and Gigabit Ethernet.

    Microsoft's Bill Morein has released a Word 2007 Ribbon "Baseball Widget" "beta add-in that lets you track games right inside the home tab of the Word 2007 ribbon. The add-in shows the score, inning, and base situation for games in progress, tracking them by pulling data from a MSN sports web service."

    Microsoft Releases Windows Home Server Toolkit

     
    Windows Home Server Toolkit V1 is a collection of tools that help you troubleshoot issues with Windows Home Server. The toolkit has the following components:
     
      • Error Reporting tool collects log files from your home computer and sends them to Microsoft. These log files are useful to Microsoft Support when troubleshooting problems you may encounter with Windows Home Server.
      • Windows Home Server Connector Troubleshooter program runs on your home computer to help troubleshoot problems you may encounter while installing the Connector software. The Connector Troubleshooter runs a series of tests to check the most common Connector Setup problems, and then it recommends possible solutions.
      • Windows Home Server Toolkit Add-in can run troubleshooting tasks from the Windows Home Server Console Settings page.
